How to Export iPhone Contacts to CSV

iPhone and iCloud export contacts as a vCard (.vcf) file — there is no built-in CSV option. The fix takes two minutes: export the vCard, then convert it to CSV right in your browser.

Method 1 — iCloud.com: the whole address book at once

  1. Open icloud.com/contacts in any browser and sign in with your Apple ID (contact sync with iCloud must be on — it is by default).
  2. Select all contacts: click any contact, then press Ctrl+A (Windows) or Cmd+A (Mac). Or pick just the ones you need.
  3. Click the gear icon in the corner → Export vCard. A single .vcf file with all selected contacts downloads.
  4. iPhone exports vCard, not CSV — so convert it: drop the file into the free VCF to CSV converter, pick a preset (universal spreadsheet, Google or Outlook columns) and download your CSV.

Method 2 — right on the iPhone

  1. In the Contacts app, open Lists (top left), touch and hold a list — e.g. “All contacts”.
  2. Tap Export and save the .vcf file to Files, or share it to yourself. On older iOS versions: open a contact → Share Contact; several contacts can be selected with a two-finger drag.
  3. Convert the .vcf to CSV the same way — in the browser, without uploading. Works on the phone itself, too.

Method 3 — synced with Google?

If your iPhone contacts actually live in a Google account (common after switching from Android), skip vCard entirely: open contacts.google.com → Export → Google CSV. See our Google Contacts guide for the reverse direction.

Why the CSV from this route works in Excel

Names stay readable

The converter writes UTF-8 with BOM, so Excel shows accented, Cyrillic and CJK names correctly — no “Д-garbage.

Real import presets

Columns match what Google Contacts and Outlook actually expect, so re-importing works on the first try.

Private

The .vcf never leaves your device: parsing runs in the browser tab, and keeps working offline.

FAQ

Can an iPhone export contacts straight to CSV?

No. iOS and iCloud only export vCard (.vcf). To get a CSV you export the vCard first and convert it — the conversion takes seconds in the browser.

Is it safe to convert my contacts online?

With this converter — yes: the .vcf is parsed locally in your browser and never uploaded to a server.

Excel shows strange characters instead of names. Why?

The CSV was saved without a UTF-8 BOM. This converter adds it automatically, so Excel displays accented and non-Latin names correctly.

How many contacts can I convert for free?

Viewing is unlimited; free CSV export covers the first 100 contacts per export. Pro ($14 one-time) removes the limit.
