How to Export Outlook Contacts to CSV

Outlook can export contacts to CSV natively — the steps just differ between new Outlook, the web version and classic Outlook. All three below, plus what to do when you have .vcf files instead.

New Outlook and Outlook on the web

  1. Open the People page (the people icon in the sidebar, or outlook.live.com/people).
  2. On the toolbar choose Manage contacts → Export contacts.
  3. Pick All contacts (or a folder) and click Export — Outlook downloads a ready .csv file.

Classic Outlook for Windows

  1. File → Open & Export → Import/Export.
  2. Choose Export to a file → Comma Separated Values.
  3. Select your Contacts folder, pick where to save the .csv and finish the wizard.

Got .vcf files instead of a CSV?

Contacts received by mail or exported from a phone arrive as vCard (.vcf) — sometimes dozens of separate files. Drop them all into the free VCF to CSV converter: up to 20 files merge into one table, and the Outlook CSV preset produces exactly the columns Outlook imports back without manual mapping. It runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

Which format does Outlook export?

A CSV file. New Outlook and the web version export UTF-8; classic Outlook may use your system encoding — if names look wrong elsewhere, re-save as CSV UTF-8 in Excel.

I have dozens of .vcf files, one per contact. How do I get a single CSV?

Drop them together into the converter — up to 20 files merge into one table, de-duplicated, and export as one CSV with Outlook-ready columns.

How do I import a CSV back into Outlook?

New Outlook: People → Manage contacts → Import contacts. Classic: File → Open & Export → Import/Export. Use our Outlook CSV preset so columns match on import.

Is the vCard conversion private?

Yes — the .vcf files are parsed locally in your browser and never uploaded to any server.
